About Our Firm

Since our firm was founded in 1981, we have developed steadily as a full-service law firm, providing our clients with creative, energetic representation. Yet even as our practice has grown to include international as well as national and local clients, we have resolved to remain small in order to maintain a high level of direct, responsive client service.

The distinctive benefits of our firm’s size accrue to our clients, who avail themselves of highly skilled legal expertise, our flexible team approach and our creative, strategic resolution of client matters. We take pride in the close personal rapport we develop with our clients, and in understanding their unique goals, issues and opportunities. Placing a high priority on resolving client matters efficiently in a cost-effective manner has been a hallmark of the firm since its founding, perhaps explaining why we continue to represent many of our very first clients.

We offer an unusually broad mix of practice areas for a firm of our size. Our diverse range of practice areas includes antitrust and trade regulation, business transactions, communications, corporate law, estate planning, litigation, media, outdoor advertising, and white collar criminal defense, among others. Our practice is both domestic and international in scope. Our attorneys bring a wide range of complementary legal skills and experience to the practice. The firm’s roster includes the nation’s leading authority on outdoor advertising law, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, the former Corporation Counsel for the District of Columbia, and a former FCC official who has been named one of the most influential African Americans in broadcasting. Our attorneys are admitted to practice in five states, in trial and appellate courts throughout the United States and Germany.

While most or our attorneys have worked in large law firms early in their legal careers, they have found the right fit with the direct client contact and flexible team approach of our firm. Our firm also is diverse, with minority representation among two of our seven partners.

Finally, we are an active participant in the Washington, D.C. community. Our firm’s attorneys are involved in a wide range of civic and community organizations, and the firm provides pro bono services to the Washington office of Justice for Children, a nonprofit that advocates on behalf of abused children.
